The MWD Quality Manager will manage the development and implementation of quality systems that meet customer requirements to ensure the highest quality products. This position will promote the best operating practices, engage in operational improvement projects, and assist with vendor accountability. In addition, this individual will execute lean transformations of the repair and maintenance process throughout all facilities based on core quality guidelines.
As a senior member of the quality department, this position coaches and supports all leaders in the deployment of best practices and will be involved in managing multiple inspection and audit personnel to achieve the tasks allotted to the quality group.
The MWD Quality Manager works under the direction of the Director of Technology.
Work with the QA department to improve QA systems for new and existing designs for sustainment projects
Maintains communication with technical staff and field operations to be proactive in identifying performance and failure trends
Identifies opportunities for process flow improvements / modifications to the company’s standard operating procedures
Works with management to create a priority list for projects and to create implementation plans for improvements made
Travels to satellite locations as needed to ensure consistent best practices.
Builds and maintains a team of quality professionals to achieve the reliability and manufacturing goals of the MWD division
Budget preparation and task scheduling
Develops and maintains a Quality Management System that supports a foundation of quality
Ensure personnel are performing all actions in accordance with Company standards to include safety, conduct, and proper use of company resources
Promote a diverse and inclusive work environment where employees of all backgrounds feel included and their contributions are valued

Ability to liaise with operations, engineering and manufacturing groups
Knowledge of statistical methodologies and techniques
Must have a thorough understanding of the drilling process; the common difficulties encountered and have the ability to communicate/mentor these domain experiences to less experienced team members
Extensive understanding of ISO, Six Sigma, 5S and other quality initiatives used within the drilling community
Self-motivated and able to adapt to new problems while working in a team environment
Excellent decision making and creative problem solving skills
Ability to develop, organize, and manage multiple tasks
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing or an equivalent
2+ years field experience in a MWD or directional drilling company
This job requires the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered. It also requires the physical ability to work in office environment including the ability to sit for long periods of time while performing office or computer tasks. The job may require some overtime including weekend or holidays. The job will require some travel. All applicants must be able to commit to a full-time schedule.
