Position Summary
The Subsea Engineer works for and with the Senior Subsea Engineer in operating and maintaining the subsea equipment on board their assigned vessel.

Position Scope
The Subsea Engineer:

Takes care of the operation, maintenance, testing, and repair of the following equipment as instructed by the Senior Subsea Engineer:
SFI 302Crown Mounted Compensator;
SFI314 Tensioning Systems;
SFI315 HP Air (or Nitrogen) System;
SFI331 BOP Stack;
SFI332 BOP Control System;
SFI333 Managed Pressure Drilling Equipment;
SFI334 Diverter System;
SFI335 Marine Riser System;
SFI336 Choke and Kill System;
and the related ancillary equipment.

Communicates regularly with the other offshore departments and to the VMT to ensure the maximum efficiency and preservation of the assets onboard.
Supports the Senior Subsea Engineer with planning and effecting the efficient operation and maintenance of the subsea equipment.
Accepts mentoring from, and provides feedback to, the Senior Subsea Engineer.
Mentors the Assistant Subsea(s) and the Subsea Technicians as necessary to ensure that everybody understands and follows the Pacific Drilling Standards effectively and efficiently.
Keeps a close eye on newly promoted, or newly hired, team members for as long as it takes for them to safely integrate into the position.
Takes a leadership role regarding the Pacific Drilling Safety Management System.
Qualifications and Experience

The Subsea Engineer is required to have:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Six years offshore experience including two years as an Assistant Subsea or an equivalent Subsea related program.
Fluent English communication skills (oral and written).
Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
NOV MUX Control and NOV NXT BOP’s Field Experience.
Compliance with the Pacific Drilling training matrix for the position.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Comply with Pacific Drilling Code of Conduct and supporting policies, standards, and applicable process documentation.
Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right the first time and every time, and contribute actively to continual improvement activities.
Understanding that the Senior Subsea Engineer is responsible for the rig equipment and procedures, even when the Subsea Superintendent is on board.
Assisting with supervising the running and retrieval of the BOP stack.
Filing a detailed handover to the Senior Subsea Engineer every shift and every hitch.
Assisting with planning and supervising the safe operation, maintenance, testing, and repair of the equipment listed above while ensuring that only OEM parts are used.
Carrying out the function and pressure testing of this equipment as specified by the Senior Subsea Engineer.
Coordinating the planning of the preventative maintenance up to and including the next between wells period.
Ensuring that Product History Files are compiled, and copied to the shore base, for every major maintenance task that is carried out.
Understanding the subsea calculations for riser and BOP space-outs, useable fluid capacities, and riser tension.
Assists with the development and execution of Work Instructions and other such documents as required.
Maintains good housekeeping standards particularly within the subsea areas.
