This position exists to provide leadership, direction and business alignment for the Process/Technical Safety, Engineering, Sub-sea, and Control & Automation Systems Team’s to deliver the business plan, realize the full potential of the assets and support the current overall growth agenda in Shell T&T.
Manage day-to-day Engineering, Process/Technical safety Asset Integrity issues/plans.
Guide, coach, promote and mentor Engineering management and staff, both onshore and offshore, in the pursuit of adding value, production excellence and improving business focus.
Build an effective and sustainable team of national staff offshore & onshore capable of delivering outstanding Engineering, Process Safety, Asset Integrity and Operational Excellence. This is to be achieved by developing local capability, identifying potential gaps and prescribed training as required.
Implementation of Shell’s Front Line Barrier Management (FLBM) Global Process specifically for the Operations personnel in desired timeframe.
Experience of and participation in, specific Risk Assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, Asset Process Safety Reviews, with the ability to interpret outputs and implement timely recovery programmes.
Challenge the status-quo to come up with new and innovative solutions in production delivery; embedding new ways of thinking into business-as-usual.
Take a leading role in aggressive cost-reduction/efficiency improvement at the same time as delivering a comprehensive programme of Asset Integrity improvements and transitioning current facilities from approaching an ‘end-of-life’ scenario to one of Asset Life Extension.
Be the key integrator with other business functions to support the delivery of an ambitious programme of offshore investment in growth projects.
Drive integrated activity plans to reduce business exposure and Risk, minimizing cost and maximizing efficiency and ultimately production.
Support the GM Upstream and leadership peers with sound, robust Operational technical advice and through undertaking specific projects helping deliver the business aspirations.
Champion a ‘can do’ culture/attitude of pride and accountability in safe, efficient production operations.
Become a Site Process Owner (SPO) to Ensure Safe Production which is one of the first batches of the new Shell Asset Management System (AMS) process.
As part of annual Business Plan process accountable for supplying scope line items and commensurate Budget for breadth of Operations Support activities identified. Ensuring delivery is in line with time and financial LE (Latest Estimate).
At least 20 years proven and demonstrable industrial experience, preferably including 15 years Oil & Gas related and must have held a substantial Operations Management role in an Organization. Being an ex-Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) would be a definite advantage.
To gain the respect of stakeholders the candidate must be a skilled and knowledgeable operations professional with considerable practical experience of managing day to day process safety and engineering activities, as well as hands-on production operations. Experience of managing onshore & offshore base operations will be an advantage.
The candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of technical competence; preferably already an Operations Technical Authority (TA2) or working towards endorsement, and have considerable upstream natural gas experience from working offshore or in a refinery.
Regular offshore visits will be a necessity and position requirement.
The role will require both directly managing a large group of Engineers of diverse disciplines as well as guiding, coaching and mentoring asset production staff for whom the candidate is not directly responsible. Therefore, the successful applicant must have highly effective communication, interpersonal, motivational and influencing skills, able to gain consensus and agreement amongst different functions and skillset levels.
Experience of working with major brownfield related project work on offshore platforms will be an advantage.
It is an essential requirement to be able to work remotely.
Equally, the ability to work effectively with and understand different cultures is a pre-requisite.
Exposure to and experience of Process Control Alarm Management process.
Have subject matter knowledge in Management of Change (MOC) process and requirements Technical and Operational Integrity, PTW Effectiveness and Management of critical documentation via Industry or within Shell.
In depth Knowledge of and working experience with Contracts and Contractor Management. Role requires incumbent to be a High-Risk/High Value Contract Holder (CH) or Contract Owner(CO) including Engineering EPC Contracts.
