Company Description Shell Exploration & Production Company (SEPCo) is responsible for safely finding, developing and producing oil and natural gas in North America. Shell has been operating in the Gulf of Mexico for five decades and these operations provide more than 73 percent of our U.S. oil and gas production. SEPCo is the largest of Shell’s E&P operating units, accounting for 17 percent of Shell’s worldwide oil and gas production. Based in Houston, Texas, our key operating locations are in the Gulf of Mexico, South Texas, Wyoming, Alabama, Alaska and Canada. Job Description Shell is in the process of hiring Experienced Offshore Mechanics. 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
 

Installing and aligning fluid movement pumps
Troubleshooting and repairing single stage pumps
Troubleshooting and repairing multi-stage pumps
Troubleshooting and repairing centrifugal pumps
Troubleshooting and repairing reciprocating gas compressors
Troubleshooting and repairing centrifugal gas compressors
Troubleshooting and repairing natural gas turbines
Troubleshooting and repairing air cooler fans
Troubleshooting and repairing air-intake blowers
Troubleshooting and replacing mechanical seals on pumps
Troubleshooting and replacing bearings
Troubleshooting and replacing compression and fuel valves in reciprocating compressors
Troubleshooting and replacing fan variable pitch assemblies
Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems
Checking and adjusting speed control governors on turbines and compressors
Replacing and installing gear boxes
Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings
Diagnosing and applying results using micrometers
Diagnosing and applying results using alignment tools for power-driven connections (i.e., reverse dial indicator)
Requirements

Demonstrated proficiency troubleshooting and performing preventive maintenance and reciprocation on combustion drivers
 

 A min. of two (2) years of industrial mechanic experience or relevant military experience
Must have prior experience and proficiency in applying lockout/tag-out procedures
Must have prior experience and proficiency conducting Job Hazard Analysis and completing Permits to Work
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/twic/index.shtm
Willingness to take and achieve satisfactory results on Shell’s pre-employment testing battery
Willingness to take and pass basic water survival course and HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)
Willingness to report timely to assigned crew change locations on either the Louisiana or Texas Gulf coast
With or without reasonable accommodations, be willing to work at heights; climb ladders and stairs; walk on high elevation grating; work in inclement weather; work around loud industrial equipment; work in compact and confined spaces; and work outdoors
Willingness to work offshore on an oil & gas production platform on the Gulf of Mexico
Willingness to work a 14 day on and 14 day off shift schedule. (This means that you will be required to be away from home for 14 days straight working in the Gulf of Mexico, and then you will have 14 days off)
Willingness to work 12 hours a day while working offshore
Willingness to work in confined places
Willingness to work on high platforms and to walk up and down steps
Willingness to walk on high elevation grating
Willingness to ride in a helicopter over Gulf of Mexico waters for extended periods
Willingness to be transferred to or from a boat via a personnel basket maneuvered by a crane in Gulf of Mexico waters and to ride in a boat for extended periods in rare occasions
Willingness to work in close proximity with co-workers
Willingness to work at night, on weekends and on holidays
Willingness and able to lift 40 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation 
Willingness to report timely to assigned crew change locations on either the Louisiana or Texas Gulf
Willingness to work in a versatile, multi-skilled team work environment
Willingness to serve as a member of an emergency response team
