Accountable for:

Perform and Lead all engineering planning and implementation of drilling operations, in conjunction with multi-disciplined technical team. Execute Onshore Well Operations activities to ensure that wells are drilled in a safe, cost effective, and an environmentally responsible manner, adhering to all company core values, corporate fiduciary requisites and policies, and Government Regulation.

Role and Scope:

Actively participate in promoting safety and environmental awareness with all company / contract staff such that drilling operations are carried out in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
Ensuring well programs in compliance with standard industry practices and government regulations.
Provide technical drilling expertise for Onshore Operations.
Ensure Drilling Operations are properly captured in the Company reporting system (WellView®) and perform quality control of the report and advise Manager Drilling and Completion if need to report revisions.
Ensure that development, appraisal, and exploration wells are drilled and completed in a safe, cost effective, and an environmentally responsible manner, adhering to all company core values, corporate requisites and policies, and in-country legislation.
Lead technical role for drilling program planning and preparation, including casing and cementing design, directional planning, drilling assembly, drilling procedures, etc. for various field developments.
Develop drilling strategies, operational plans and implementation of operations.
Provide input, expert opinion and assistance on all engineering and operational aspects of ongoing daily drilling activities as required.
Perform day to day monitoring of drilling and completion operations. Review daily operations giving guidance to Drilling Supervisors when appropriate.
Organize and implement project schedules, operational schedules, and forecasts.
Prepare drilling, completion cost estimates for AFEs and Budgets.
Assist in the preparation, evaluation and contract awards for support services and materials, including selection of the drilling rig. Administer contracts with outside suppliers of equipment and services.
Review drilling operations and engineering performance and make recommendations to management on the adoption of new equipment, technologies or techniques to improve operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Ensure that the well plans are being followed and operational guidelines are being executed ensuring safety and environmental programs are being followed.
The position is required to interface with the team (Operations, Subsurface, Projects, Asset Management and Contractors) and partners to optimize the drilling and completion operations.
Ensure that the overall goals of the project are achieved by implementing them in an efficient and cost effective manner.
Provide office based engineering support/as a resource (as required) in case of emergency (i.e.: well control situations).
 

Qualifications:

Minimum BSc. Degree in Engineering.
At least 12 years prior experience in Drilling Engineering or Operations.
A minimum of 5 years in direct drilling operations.
Hold a valid IWCF/IADC well control certificate for Drilling Supervisor level in surface stack operations (minimum, to be considered for interview).
High level of competency in Onshore operations is required and Some Managed Pressure Drilling Techniques is preferred.
Competent in using drilling design software i.e. Well Plan, Compass, Torque & Drag, Hydraulics, WellCat, etc.
Project management skills with previous experience in onshore development projects.
Self-starter, demonstrated completed staff work skills requiring little to no direct supervision.
Lead and finish specialized engineering studies with or without outside assistance.
Team player with strong communication, networking and motivational skills.
Individual that is willing to accept risks and aggressively pursue continuous improvement.
