The JOIDES Resolution Science Operator (JRSO) at Texas A&M University’s International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) invites applications for a Materials Specialist who is responsible for acquisition of drilling and coring tools, equipment, and supplies on timely basis to support scientific expeditions on the R/V JOIDES Resolution. Routine and effective interaction with commercial machine shops, shipboard coring technicians, operations, engineering, and purchasing staff, and management.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be well organized and detail oriented, and be able to work independently and as a team member. A Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and five years’ experience in a relevant field is required.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the applicant. This is a regular full-time, benefit eligible position, contingent upon continuing availability of funds for the JRSO.
