Key Responsibilities
Summary
Maintains operational integrity, maintenance (preventive maintenance), installation/removal of electrical equipment, repair and documentation of electrical systems, performs diagnostic tests and troubleshoots system faults and failures, of all electrical equipment on drilling rig. Ensures electrical systems are within safety and regulatory body compliance standards and all electrical equipment remains operative throughout the operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Repairs: Completes troubleshooting repairs and/or modifications work on company assets according to company and manufacturer’s specifications. Travels to rig to resolve electrical issues if necessary.
Preventative maintenance: Performs preventative maintenance on motor control center, generators and electrical components on drilling rigs according to established schedule.
Work planning: Preplans operational needs, organizes equipment and supplies, and conducts testing of systems as required.

Education and/or Experience
Minimum one year certificate from college, technical or vocational school. Minimum 5 years related experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Basic computer use skills. Knowledge of RTA Fleet Management Software preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Driver License.
Journeyman License preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong leadership skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively.
Other Qualification
Familiarity with 480-600V.
Motor control, SCR, AC VFD, and PLC experience.
Top drive experience.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to taste or smell. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; exposed to outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. Frequently exposed to vibration. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and extreme cold (non-weather). Noise level in work environment is usually loud.
